For all the sparkle and flash of so many of sbe‘s nightlife ventures, their Redbury hotel brand, which debuted in Hollywood in 2010 (followed by South Beach in 2014) is actually much more elegant of an affair.
This month a third outpost opens in NYC’s recently fabricate, but perpetually buzzing NoMad neighborhood. And while it forsakes the more sexy, sceney Cleo restaurants in both LA and Miami for Danny Meyer’s already existing—and somewhat more homey—Marta, the aesthetic conception of the hotel certainly plays to type. Indeed, fashionable photographer, star designer and music video director Matthew Rolston has crafted the interiors with an eye to Bohemian romanticism. This means lots of exotic patterns, dramatic candelabras, rooms with charmingly shambolic art and vintage bric-a-brac, and alluringly low lighting throughout.
The Hollwyood Redbury draws the likes of Khloe Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Bella Thorne, Scarlett Johansson and Glee’s Naya Rivera. So expect no shortage of star wattage in New York, especially at the hotel’s exceedingly stylish Bar Marta. See you there.
In a reverse of the standard order, star restaurateur Danny Meyer (Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, Shake Shack) opened Marta in late 2014, nearly two years before the old Martha Washington Hotel was renovated into the fabulous new Redbury. Since then, chef Nick Anderer has been dazzling diners with his nuovo update of Roman cuisine, including strikingly creative pizzas like the Cozze (mussels & Calabrian chilis) and the Piselli (bianche, with English peas and speck). Don’t forget to treat yourself to a Tiramisu ice cream sandwich.
