Banish Winter Woes and Hydrate Your Skin: This Easy Extra Skin-Care Step is 100% Worth It

Step One:

If you haven’t added a serum to your skincare regimen yet, a hydrating formula might be the way to go. While the prospect of adding more to your “self-care to-do list” can be daunting–ever feel like you barely have time to shower?–serum shouldn’t be. Not only do these little elixirs deliver major benefits to our skin in 30 seconds, but due to their light, watery textures they also feel really good. Truly, enjoy this micro-spa experience.

Oils, two of which are featured here also pack that little punch of DIY luxury. Rodin Olio Lusso and Caudalie’s are both are luxe as they come. A perfect opportunity to end the day with a little massage.

Check out Step Two here.

11 Tricks To Fool Everyone Into Thinking You Actually Showered Today

Photo: Courtesy of Byredo

Want to get carded? Check out 5 fast ways to look under 21.

No time to shower? No problem.

The latest from fragrance brand Byredo is a hair perfume, released in three of the brand’s classic scents.

hair perfume

1. The “long lasting scents…subtly diffuse throughout the day, amplified by the natural movement of the hair,” the brand said in a press release. “Each hair perfume combines one of BYREDO’s signature scents with a unique silicone and polymer formula to create a light, invisible veil designed to leave the hair nourished and luminous whilst divinely scented.” So, if you’ve ever faux-casually sniffed your hair whilst running out the door and hoping no one notices the smell of shampoo has long since left your hair, the solution is here.

2. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily conquer grease. And since we can’t all be Kimmy K, with five-day plans and glam squads for each level of natural grease our hair encounters post-wash, some of us reach for products that can do it all.

Consensus rules that if messy hair is in, by all means run with it. A little dry shampoo spray with texturizing properties is your best friend. Zhush it up, have some fun with it and be your bad self. No shower, no problem. Recommended: Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray

3. Skip the sink and get your face clean with the best facial wipes we’ve ever found–a true BlackBook fave–Koh Gen Do’s Cleansing Spa Water Cloths.

4. It’s never a bad idea to start the day with a facial mist and having tried MANY, Tata Harper’s is a tried-and-true favorite.

Even if Tata’s mist didn’t  have hyaluronic acid and brighten skin, I’d still spray it on like crack for it’s smell and ability to feel like an instant refresh!

5. Moving down, along the face, quick reminder. There is no excuse not to brush your teeth. There is an excuse to be kind of childish about it and wish it didn’t suck or bore you or whatever. Enter Foreo’s new Issa toothbrush. Because we should all have chic Swedish designed silicone toothbrushes, ya know?

6. Sometimes when we don’t shower, we decide to take not showering UP A NOTCH. Because why not. Should you decide to skip to the cute little local barre studio, (which obviously does not have shower accommodations), break a bit of a sweat, and then head to your next meeting like nothing happened, allow me to introduce you to your new best friend: The Shower Pill. Like baby wipes but for sweaty, lazy, post-work-out adults.

7. Another no-cheat zone? (let’s be courteous, if unclean)–pits. Dove’s new dry spray deodorant is a must have because who even has time to use a stick anymore!? No risk of icky stains either.

8. Before you go: smear on a little something to help keep your skin in check–Bioelements Oil Control Mattifier.

And, one for the road: Tatcha’s Original Aburatorigami Blotting Papers. Because oily is not chic–and they won’t even mess up your makeup.

9. Get your glow courtesy of Dr. Dennis Gross’s Alpha Beta Glow pad which gets your face looking naturally glowy (and streak-free) within 1-3 hours of application.

10. Finish it off with Eve Lom’s new Radiant Glow Cream Foundation–compact, with SPF 30, and ready to throw in your bag.

11. Finish it off with an oldie-but-goodie–because what other fragrance would you pick when hiding your unshowered-ness? Add a spritz of the appropriately named CLEAN’s Shower Fresh.

Alexander Wang Bags + 8 Hot Beauty Must-Haves: Your Saving Summer Grace

A high of 100. Staggering humidity. Blaring sun. Summer’s coming, alright; it’ll be full tilt before you can organize a week’s work of breezy, floaty things.

But before you allow your spirits (and general surroundings) to dampen, take a proactive step and secure a few vital products to make the hot, sticky, summer months more bearable and beautiful. It’s these eight products (plus one amazing bag) that’ll save your summer, whatever sunburns, oil slicks, and other shiny situations come your way.

FOR SOOTHING OVERHEATED SKIN:
Dr. Dennis Gross Hydra-Pure Smart Spray
Spritz this two or three times over a parched and overheated face for some cooling relief and free radical protection, thanks to peppermint oil and other skin savers.

FOR HAIR THAT DRIES FASTER:
AG Hair Cosmetics Deflect Fast-Dry Heat Protection
The less time spent under a hot hair dryer in the summer months the better. Use this to decrease drying time and smooth hair in the process. It’s the work of an AG complex including abyssinian oil.

FOR GEISHA-PERFECT SKIN:
Tatcha Aburatorigami Japanese Beauty Papers
Flecks of gold leaf in these Geisha-approved papers turn blotting excess oil into a glamorous endeavor.

FOR PERFECTED SKIN:
MAKE Custom Finish Effects Matte/Dew
Skip foundation and reach for a lighter dose of skin perfecting makeup with this duo. The peachy, matte side is perfect for your T zone, while the pink side adds moisture to sun-parched cheeks.

FOR LIGHT, SUMMER HYDRATION:
Koh Gen Do Refresh Spa Aloe Gel
Sunburned and sensitive, or just looking for lighter summer hydration? This light weight, refreshing aloe treatment soothes and moisturizes.

FOR NON-CHALKY SUN PROTECTION:
Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50

Get glowing and protect against sun damage with this universally tinted broad spectrum SPF. It’s adaptable to every skin tone, so you can reapply every few hours (like you should) without worrying about streaks or a mismatch.

FOR EYE-AREA SUN PROTECTION:
Skinceuticals Physical Eye UV Defense Sunscreen
Does for your sensitive eye area what the above does for your whole face. What crows feet?

FOR A PUNCH OF COLOR (AND A LAST RESORT):
NARS Satin Lip Pencil (pick a bright color, like Yu)

If all else fails, distract ’em from frizzy hair and ultra *dewy* skin with an ultra bright lip. It’s a game changer.

Oh, and about that bag, Alexander Wang sent thermo-reactive (aka heat sensitive color changing) materials down the fall runway — the leather bag pictured in transition above goes from near navy to bright blue. Like a suntan without the burn.
