Each year, the amfAR gala rallies celebrities and wealthy do-gooders to support research for the global AIDS crisis. Celebrities are never ones to shy away from donating to charity, and they raised over $30 million (!) at Thursday evening’s art auction and gala in Cannes. Bonafide art aficionado Leonardo DiCaprio donated a Banksy to the auction that sold for 986,000 euros — nearly $1.1 million. Appropriately so, the stars were out in celebratory fashion. From David Gandy (above) looking handsome as always, to super models like Karlie Kloss, Isabeli Fontana, Joan Smalls, and more, all stunning as ever, check out 21 of the hottest looks from the Cannes amfAR Gala.

6 Intense Hair Situations at Last Night’s Met Gala

A lot happened at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute gala last night. The exhibit’s "Punk: Chaos to Couture" theme inspired starlets, songstresses and socialites, to really go for it and sport daring get-ups and beauty looks. Oh, and as expected, Kim Kardashian indeed graced the red carpet with her presence in a custom Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci floral thing that has quickly spawned it’s own "Bitch stole my look!" moment with a sofa. (Social media is fun.) But more than anything, attendees expressed their inner punkdom through crazy hairstyles that ranged from brilliantly bold to major mistakes. Let’s revisit these looks, shall we? Starting with tamest (when Anne Hathaway going blonde is tame, things must be getting wild) to zaniest.

siennamet

Always a risk-taker (I’m still defending her Golden Globes dress), Sienna Miller turned up with an expertly-executed comb-over bound by a side spike headband. She paired the look with an equally eye-catching Genevieve Jones’ Teague Ear Cuff in 18K White Gold with Diamond Pave.

katymet

Katy Perry continued her Dolce & Gabbana love affair with a hyper-embellished dress and straight-up crown pairing. Oh, hey Kate Upton, is that you trying to photobomb?

miley1

Ahh! Miley Cyrus didn’t hold anything back with this hair-raising ‘do, which was big F**K You to all the haters who still don’t understand why she’s going for a look that’s a cross between Susan Powter and Guy Fieri. (Do you see it?)

nicolemet

Nicole Richie dyed her hair grey for the occasion, and it somehow made sense. People have been comparing her to Albert Einsten, which is a pretty lazy observation, if you ask me. She did it way better than Lady Gaga did that one time

SJPmet

Last but not least, I’ll leave you with Sarah Jessica Parker, who wore a costume mohawk by famed milliner Philip Treacy. This proves that SJP will never not be Carrie from Sex and the City because the fashion world continues to hang onto her every over-the-top style moment. Who knew that Hocus Pocus chick would have such a storied career?

See Evan Rachel Wood, Peter Dinklage, and Justin Long in New Stills From ‘A Case of You’

With the New Directors/New Films Festival all wrapped up, we’re setting our sites on Tribeca and getting geared up for all the exciting new movies premiering later this month. And no stranger to the festival circuit, award-winning director Kat Coiro is back with her upcoming romantic comedy, A Case of You. The film is set to debut on April 21st and today we’ve got new stills from the film (via The Playlist) featuring its dynamic ensemble cast.

In Cioro’s latest, we follow Justin Long as a man whose online dating profile attracts the likes of his dream girl—played by Evan Rachel Wood. But the trouble comes when she falls for him and he must got to uphold his online persona—a more a heightened version of himself—or chance her affections waning. Alongside the two is a pretty amazing hodgepodge cast of comedic and dramatic talent from Sienna Miller and Sam Rockwell to Vince Vaughn and Busy Phillips.

In the photos below we get a look at the leading couple, as well as a beanie-clad Brendan Fraser and sassy looking Peter Dinklage. Take a look.

In Defense of Sienna Miller’s Golden Globes Dress

I’ll spare you another Globes style gallery, but I will tell you that Kristin Wiig in Michael Kors, Rosie Huntington-Whitley in Saint Laurent, Nicole Richie in Naeem Khan, Jessica Alba in Oscar de la Renta and Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen all looked pretty damn fantastic. While most of these ladies received tons of love on various best-dressed lists today, I was annoyed to see that my favorite look from the night is being cyberbullied. Am I completely off my rocker to think that Sienna Miller was absolutely brilliant in Erdem last night? The pastel floral appliqués on this spring 2013 number are cool as hell, and props to Miller for taking a risk.

Daily Mail said the dress "looks awkward to the average eye." Who wants to be average? HuffPost claimed it "fell flat" because the appliqués were "fluttering in the wind." I happen to enjoy the wind-fluttering, thank you very much. Paired with a near-bare face, swept-back hair and signature Miller statement details like Van Cleef & Arpels earrings on only one side of the ear, the entire look shined and was a breath of fresh air on an otherwise sparkle-dunked red carpet.

The Girl star revealed to E! that she "really wanted to wear someone British." I love that she veered away from tapping an expected Brit designer for the job and instead went for a fresh talent like Erdem, whose romantic runway shows never cease to enchant during London Fashion Week.

Bra-freakin’-vo, Miss Miller.

Exclusive: Savannah Miller of Twenty8Twelve Talks Fall Fashion & Dream Collaborations

While Twenty8Twelve might not be showing on the runway this fashion month, we’re sure to see looks from the British label’s latest collection on the streets. Co-creative directors (and sisters) Savannah and Sienna Miller have turned out another stellar season for their celebrated line, which is favored by a laundry list of celebrities, bloggers, and editors for its modern approach to retro fashion. To ring in the debut of the brand’s AW11 offerings, Savannah took some time out to give us the scoop on “The Burnettes and Burlinson” collection’s inspiration, her and her sister’s favorite pieces, and the two high-fashion designers with whom she’d love to design a capsule collection.

image

How was the label started? Were you and Sienna always into fashion? From day one, Sienna was writing plays, and I was creating her costumes. She’s my other half, and creating a line seemed like the most logical next step to take. When we were approached by Spanish entrepreneur Carlos Ortega to turn that dream in to a reality, it felt like a logical and organic step to take. Twenty8Twelve was born, and the rest is history. Our emphasis is on quality, cut and finishing – beautifully finished denim, luxurious knitwear, perfectly cut dresses, casual pieces and coats. The vision and essence for the label lies in old time tailoring techniques. We create sophisticated garments with a vintage feel but contemporary vibe, with a strong directional design.

What inspired the AW11 collection? This fall, we tried not to get to weighed down by theme. Instead, we tried to create the ultimate winter wardrobe – the perfect coat, the perfect trousers, the perfect dress, etc. We let our themes lead us for color. I stumbled across an old Italia Vogue shoot that was done at our boarding school, Heathfield. The girls had been styled as boys in a ’90s rockabilly tribute. It was beautiful and very inspiring. I remember the casting director wandering around the school, picking the strangest looking girls and all the pretty girls complaining because they wanted to be in the photo shoot. We all thought the hair and make up and styling was really weird, but looking back on it now I see how directional and visionary they were. These pictures totally led our delivery. We paid tribute to the restraint of school uniform and the magic of rebellious schoolgirls somehow managing to break the confines and make it their own. image

What are some of your favorite pieces from the collection? We both love the Ledoyen Dress, the Hawkins Jacket and the Marlon Jean (below, right).

image

Who do you like to see wearing Twenty8Twelve? We once held a competition where the winner received tickets to our runway show, and the winner ended up being a blogger who wrote such a thoughtful, genuine entry about the show. You could tell how much she loved the experience and really appreciated the clothing. We love to see passionate people like this wearing Twenty8Twelve.

What designers are on your collaboration wish list? I think it would have to be someone off the wall. We collaborate with a new artist every season and it always adds a really interesting dimension to the range. I would love to collaborate with someone like Anna Sui or Moschino to create a really insane knitwear capsule one day.

Moroccanoil to Blame for Sienna Miller and Jude Law’s Reconciliation

This maybe true if Jude was a hair guy, because Miller’s hair was looking hot on the red carpet last night. You guys knew this “Met Gala Post” was coming, but instead of doing “the best beauty looks of the Met Gala,” (we’ve already got one of those) I’m going to take this as an opportunity to highlight “the best looks that withstood the humidy/thunderstorms and why” post. Did you notice the majority of the hair styles had a simple and understated elegance? That’s because it had been pouring for two days straight and was 90 degrees. I got some info on Sienna Miller, Claire Danes and Rachel Weisz’s Met-heads and found out that all of their coifs had something in common: Moroccan Oil. I’ve often recommended MO to my pals as a skin and hair savior, but I did not know there was a whole product line devoted to the rare tree extract. Moroccanoil (that’s the brand’s name, simple and understated) was responsible for the ladies’ frizz-free looks on this terribly humid/rainy night.

The theme, as I’m sure has already been beaten into your head by now, was American Woman. And what says American Woman better than wearable style? Surely “I spent nine hours with my hairstylist today” does not exactly portray a modern American girl, which is why I’m particularly fond of these three looks. The main product used is made from the Argan tree, a rare tree native only to Morocco whose extract is a powerful antioxidant and UV protector, rich in vitamins and natural elements. Moroccanoil brand harvests this product under a free trade program which provides substantial socio-economic support to thousands of families in the Souss-Massa region of Morocco, providing income and improving the working conditions of rural women. It’s blended with a host of vitamins until it becomes a super-product that is both effective and good for your hair.

image Rachel Weisz Hairstylist Mark Townsend noticed the vibe of Rachel’s dress was sexy-70’s, so he wanted to do the impossible and hook her up with a sleek blow-out. Here’s his master plan for copping the coif. 1) Add a few drops of Moroccanoil Treatment to hair to condition and strengthen it while reducing drying time. 2) Blow dry wirh a medium round brush. 3) Curl hair from ends to roots with a 1 ¾ inch iron, brush out with a flat brush. 4) Spray with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray at the crown to tame frizz/flyaways. 5) Spray Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray on ends to fight humidity.

image Sienna Miller Hairstylist John D. wanted Sienna to exude the summery look of Brigitte Bardot. 1) Finger-comb damp hair with Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to treat and prevent frizz. 2) Blow dry with a flat bristle brush. 3) Fasten half the hair into a undone, messy half-upstyle, leaving volume at the crown. 4) Spray with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to treat and protect hair from humidity. image Claire Danes Hairstylist Peter Butler wanted to compliment Claire’s strapless slate-grey gown by Christopher Bailey for Burberry, with a hair look that highlighted her elegant pale blonde color with natural-looking polished and textured waves. “It’s almost like a modern version of combed out beach waves with a refined texture.” 1) Apply a dry shampoo at the roots for volume, then use Moroccanoil Light to smooth and hydrate strands and protect hair before using a curling iron. 2) Curl hair with a medium barrel curling iron, picking up small sections starting at the nape of the neck, twisting hair around while leaving ends straight. 3) After combing curls out with a wide-tooth comb, adjust the texture with hands and bring curls forward to soften the face. 4) Smooth ends with Moroccanoil Light. 5) Finish with a light mist of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray followed by Moroccanoil Luminous Hair Spray for a natural hold.
