Victoria Beckham’s Life Depicted By New Handbag Line: Classy, Polished, Exorbitantly Expensive

From Spice World to the fashion world, Victoria Beckham-née-Adams has had quite the interesting career. After a timid foray into fashion, including a line of jeans for Rock & Republic and later her own denim line, Beckham’s back at the drawing board with a new line of luxury handbags. The collection includes six different styles, ranging from $1,800 to $13,950, and two of the styles went on sale yesterday morning on the UK Net-a-Porter site. After barely an hour, one of the bags had sold out entirely (pictured, left), while the remaining crocodile skin bag still remains in limited quantities (hardly the impulse buy at $13,800).

Unsurprisingly, the line is crafted from luxury materials and suited for the elegant businesswoman—minimal designs with understated appeal. If you weren’t lucky enough to score one on Net-a-Porter, the rest of the designs will go on sale later this month at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus Los Angeles.

Going Once, Going Twice, Sold: VF Acquires Rock & Republic

VF Corp., which also owns 7 For All Mankind and John Varvatos, has acquired the bankrupt Rock & Republic brand for $57 million, reports WWD. Under the deal, VF Corp. will purchase the Rock & Republic brand name, but will not obtain it’s business operations or retail boutiques. Owner Michael Ball launched Rock & Republic in 2002 as a high-end rock-inspired denim collection. The brand exploded on the market with tremendous success and expanded into handbags, shoes, and a full ready-to-wear line including dresses, suits, blouses, trousers, and workout wear.

Despite R&R’s early success, over the last few years the company has not been able to pay off debts and subsequently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on April 1, 2010. Details of the deal have not been disclosed and it is still subject to approval by bankruptcy court.

Boots of Color

How many pairs of colorful boots do you own? I just realized I own only one pair. All of my boots are some shade of gray, brown, or black. I also realized this is because colorful boots are not readily available. There are always numerous colors of heels and pumps at any given boutique, but for some reason boots are not frequently made in color. I assume this is because boots are mostly worn in the fall and winter and designers shy away from color during these seasons. I want more colorful boots. After reading this, you may want more too! So I took the liberty of digging up some hued boots that will brighten up your outfits during this season dominated by black.
