Insta-Critic: Earthy Glamour at Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren’s collection stuck to earthy colors–but should you to think that took down the glam factor, you’d be wrong. The collection was full of sumptuous knits (think cable knit slim maxis), buttery leather suits, soft suede detailing, and plenty of fur for a rugged and refined vibe. And apart from the designer’s backstage embrace with Kanye West (a winning social media moment), that sequin slip dress, styled with epic trapper hat, takes the prize for the show’s most-instagrammed moment.

Ralph Lauren to Sponsor the Polo World Cup on Snow

While we’re all still coping with post-holiday depression, wealthy jetsetters across the globe are gearing up to attend one of the world’s most prestigious winter sporting events. The 2012 St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow will be held at the famed Swiss ski resort on the frozen Lake St. Moritz from January 26 through January 29. Ralph Lauren will serve as the USA team sponsor and the official outfitter for the tournament.

In addition to producing the shirts that will be worn by the four competing teams (BMW and Cartier are fielding sponsors), the American fashion designer will also outfit all on-site staff and volunteers. The USA team will be lead by top polo player Michael Bickford, and for the first time, Ralph Lauren spokesmodel and polo superstar, Nacho Figueras (pictured here in his official St. Moritz Polo World Cup outfit) will hit the frozen field to represent.

Although show tickets start at an easy 50 Swiss francs ($50), you still need to pay your way to Switzerland.

Ralph Lauren Reveals All-White Olympic Looks for Team USA

Off the heels of their partnership with the 2012 St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow, Ralph Lauren has just unveiled the Closing Ceremony parade uniforms and village wear for the 2012 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams. As the official outfitter of Team USA, the American fashion designer opted for crisp monochromatic white in breezy silhouettes that would work just as well in the Hamptons.

For women, the look features a white button-down with both the team and classic RL Big Pony logos on the chest, paired with a flowing midi skirt cinched with a striped belt. Men will wear a cotton shirt emblazoned with the aforementioned logos, along with white pleated slacks fastened by a striped silk belt. Dapper.
