Shopping Hit List: It’s All About Pendleton

We love Pendleton. There, we said it. Their signature patterns are a must for any fall wardrobe, and their garments work just as well in the city as they do on the prairie. Here are five of our favorite items from this American heritage stalwart, from an iPad case to a cape, and tips about where to find them.

The Portland Collection Reversible Cape – $360: (Main Image.) Not just for superheroes anymore. Part of their brand new Portland Collection.

imageThe Pendleton Meets OC Navajo Pencil Dress – $630: Once Opening Ceremony offers their stamp of approval, you know a brand has arrived.

imageThe Pendleton Ipad Case – $68: What better way to protect your iPad than with a Native American-inspired geometric wool case.

imageThe Day of the Dead Blanket – $218: Just in time for Dia de los Muertos.

imageThe Men’s Pendleton Cody Vest – $159: Question: Is there anything better than a man in a Navajo print vest? Answer: No, no there isn’t.

Get Yourself a Cloak (Magic Not Included)

I appreciate cloaks because sometimes all I want to do is wear a blanket in public without being judged. Like a poncho, a cloak is essentially a large piece of fabric you wear over your outfit, but has cooler details like a hood and pockets. The best styles out right now most definitely come from Lindsey Thornburg, who uses authentic Pendleton jacquard wool lined with water-resistant silk rayon, making those babies not only really warm, but really sturdy, too. And her versions are the ultimate poncho/cloak hybrid, mixing modern touches like a scarf-tie hood with Native American patterns. Shop Lindsey Thornberg cloaks here.

On a side note, back in the day cloaks were considered magical, which is why wearing one in Harry Potter granted invisibility and produced the ability to camouflage in Lord of the Rings. Allegedly. Either way, owning a garment that allows you to disappear in any situation would have been super convenient.

Opening Ceremony Year-End Sale Starts Today

There have been a lot of great things coming out of Opening Ceremony lately (not to mention the fact that it’s one of Donald Glover’s favorite stores), but the year-end sale is what we’ve all been waiting for. If you held out on buying pieces from the highly-coveted Pendleton x Opening Ceremony collection (pictured), you’re in luck—the sale includes many of the best designer collaborations, such as Robert Clergerie and Jean Paul Gaultier. Starting today, the sale is going on at each of the three worldwide retail locations, as well as online. With discounts up to 70% off, the Howard Street and Ace Hotel locations will have extended holiday hours for those of us staying in town over the weekend. As one of the bigger sales of the year, I suggest stocking up on plenty of designer pieces now—you have the rest of the year to settle your credit card debt.
