Shop 14 Crazy, Colorful (Mostly) Faux Fur, Streetstyle Ready Pieces to Bundle Up In

Nary a day of NYFW went by that we didn’t see countless iterations of fashion’s burgeoning obsession with fur–vrai ou faux. This time, we mean off the runway and on the streets.

The bigger, the brighter, the bait-ier–>the better for the hordes of photographers snapping pix of those dressed most outrageously. (see: bare legs in -10 degrees–normal at FW). But, with awesome brands like Shrimps spearheading the trend, it’s something we’re all about (done right, of course).

Being firm believers that with the right fit + confidence, we can all pull off anything we want to, let’s explore playing with faux fur–because that’s what this trend is really all about–being playful with style.

Insta-Critic: Marc Jacobs Gives Us a Diana Vreeland-Inspired Dream

A year after his exit from Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs brought a show true to his aesthetic, with exciting twists vis-à-vis bold makeup (those brooding, matte lips) and sharply knotted buns. Jacobs was inspired by Diana Vreeland, whose apartment inspired the scenery of the runway. The collection brought a Vreeland-esque drama: full of knife-pleating, and other such dramatic silhouettes. And that’s a wrap on NYFW! Off to London.

Kendall Wears Watanabe for New DAZED Cover

When Kim Kardashian attempted to break the internet just a couple of days ago, she sent out the following accompanying tweet:

It would appear, however, that baby Kendall (she’s 19) will be the one whose talents stand the test of time.

We’ve been counting Kendall’s growing akkomplishments for a while and they continue to akkumulate (too far?). Today, in perhaps her most avant-garde photographs yet, she graces not one but three covers of DAZED magazine (a category different than the Vogue and Vogue-esque stamps of approval she’s already ticked off).

The cover of DAZED’s issue proclaims Kendall to be “changing the face of fashion,” and the issue celebrates 100 individuals thought to be equally game-changing. Jenner is in good company: others include Kelela, Olivier RousteingGia Coppola, J.W.AndersonKiernan Shipka, and Miles Teller.

On one cover, Kendall wears Junya Watanabe and a teddy bear for an accessory. It’s as high-concept fashion as we’ve seen Kendall. Then she appears in black and white wearing a Marc Jacobs military coat. On the third cover two images have been spliced together by Doug Abraham, who creates surreal collages based on fashion imagery on his Instagram feed, @bessnyc4.

Kongrats Kendall, you’re a supermodel.

5 People That Should Totally Get a Reality Show Already

Photo: Angela Pham/

In light of Bethenney Frankel signing on for the new season of Real Housewives of New York — after a multi-million dollar contract with her Skinny Girl cocktail collection and attempt at a talk show– the single mother is heading back to her roots. It got us thinking… It’s a career move that will keep her face on the silver screen and her name relevant.

We couldn’t help but think of other stars that should also jump on the reality show bandwagon. We should start charging for our advice.

1. Amber Rose: The fact that VH1 hasn’t snatched this idea up is beyond us. We’ve been feeling for Miss Rose ever since the announcement of her split from pot-enthusiast husband Wiz Kahlifa. The thing that will keep her mind off the “un-coupling” is keeping busy with a reality show. Juggling her career and raising her child all while enduring divorce drama with her rapper ex hubby. Sounds like something even Tyler Perry couldn’t write. GALORE MAG Issue #4 Celebration + Launch of the Galore Mag ShopPhoto: Angela Pham/

2. Hilary Duff: We adored her as a child in her role on Disney’s hit series Lizzie McGuire and we couldn’t help but sing along to every word of “Come Clean” while watching Laguna Beach or when it came on shuffle. Hilary took a break from show biz and was busy getting married, getting separated, and having a baby. Now the Texas native has even blonder hair, is set to release a new album, and starring in a new scripted television series. We’re happy she’s busy, but we want to see her have nervous breakdown on reality television. Her past and present paints a perfect future for a reality series. Reality With Hilary rings just right… any networks interested? DISNEY'S PLANES LA PremierePhoto: Aleks Kocev/

3. Jaime King: Anyone who had a role in the film White Chicks holds a special place in our hearts, but it’s time for Jaime King to up the ante. Her gorgeous looks and fresh taste on style gives her the credentials to become E!’s newest Kardashian. She’s kept a constant role on the CW’s Hart of Dixie but a reality show of Jaime running around New York City is just what the actress needs to catapult from an actress to a lifestyle brand. Opening of RESTORATION HARDWARE West Hollywood The Gallery on Melrose AvenuePhoto: Billy Farrell/

4. Jessica Alba: Yes Jessica is pretty much A-List so the likes of the beauty doing a reality show are low, but it would make a lot of sense. The busy mom keeps busy with not only the occasional acting role but attending parties, fashion shows, and running a children’s lifestyle brand. She could call it Jessica Gets Honest and plus The Honest Company. Branding match made in heaven. Billy-Farrell-2Photo: Billy Farrell/

5. Marc Jacobs: With the upcoming premiere of House of DVF on E! other designers should mirror the reality effect. Who isn’t curious to get a behind the scenes look at one of the world’s biggest fashion houses? Between his runway collections, accessories, and makeup lines, there are sure to be some cat-fight and success stories lying beneath. The perfect storyline to a successful reality program. Matteo-PrandoniPhoto: Matteo Prandoni/

Major SS15 Trend Seen at Fendi + Marc Jacobs + More

Fendi SS15 illustrated by Joseph Larkowsky

Fashion month is nearly winding down…  We’re onto Paris, but during Milan, the Italian fashion capital kicked things into swing with Gucci and Fendi. After the Karl Lagerfeld headed Fendi, famed for its furry goodies, (and  after I looked through the crafted leather and denim jodhpurs and the smallest embellished bags I’ve ever clapped eyes on,) I realized that behind the pretty pastel organza and printed orchid culottes, there was an underlying edge of rebel teens, ready to light up a cigarette behind the bike sheds or sit at the back of the bus and intimidate the new kids. The more you stare at the shredded leather jackets, you realize it’s not a degradé fade, it’s a bold stroke of black spray-paint, or the metallic gladiator sandals, reminiscent of the gaggles of girls in London’s East End.

This isn’t something just seen at Fendi. Marc Jacobs closed NYFW with a parade of military women, each of their looks becoming more adorned with cabochons, luxe materials and couture silhouettes. Selection of patch worked looks bandies together from swatches of fabric in oversized military jackets and nurses uniforms enforcing the idea of rebelling against the regime. Although it’s the spring season, there is something very dark and broody about the collections we have seen.

Back in Milan, Roberto Cavalli produced denim jackets, slit and slashed, worn and fading to reveal a punky, sequin covered second skin. Could the new trend for spring 2015 be “unleash your inner rebel,” or are these girls just pseudo rebels? Is the spray painting, the secret embellishments and the anti-normcore idea of it all a little too… twee in itself?

Donatella went full out punk a few seasons back, all PVC and spiked chokers. This season she did something we never would imagine, sports (or at least, Donatella’s version of ‘sports’). Underwear waistbands on slit skirts and a million miles of Swarovski-adorned fabric later, you have to wonder if Donatella has rebelled against her own aesthetic. Does the Versace customer want a pair of Medusa head track pants, or do they prefer the snake-headed dominatrix where she is normally seen, on crotch grazing mini-dresses? (There were still some of those, to be fair. The world hasn’t gone mad).

I can see how the idea of undercover rebels could be alluring to some. The Park Avenue Princess convincing her mother to buy her the Ralph Lauren black organza shirt, not letting it slip that the leather ties really do completely unlace…

But who am I to judge rebels? Anna Wintour just answered Vogue’s now infamous “73 Questions” in which she stated she hates seeing “all black’. I’m comfortable enough rebelling against Anna by continuing to wear the same black uniform I have for several years, but who knows, maybe next season I’ll pull a Karl at Fendi and spray-paint myself for the gods.
