Kanye West is Getting, Like, Super Deep on Twitter (Oh & He Also Revealed Two Upcoming Albums & a Bunch of Unreleased Yeezy Gear)

Kanye West is no stranger to well, strange, internet outbursts. But over the last 24 hours, the Pablo rapper has gotten super philosophical. Beginning yesterday, he started sharing gems like “Distraction is the enemy of vision,” “Sometimes you just have to get rid of everything” and a personal favorite, “Stop playing chess with life.”

Later, though, things started to get a bit more Tony Robbins.

The whole thing was pretty crazy. But what else do we expect from Kanye West at this point? And his explanation made perfect sense: it’s a book that he’s writing in real time. Duh.

West also took the opportunity to announce two upcoming albums, a seven-song solo drop due out June 1, and a collab album with Kid Cudi. He also revealed Teyana Taylor’s album release date (June 22) and that Pusha T will be dropping new music on May 25. Not sure how those two feel about that, though.

In addition to new music, Ye gave us a preview of his newest Yeezy season, including a photo of the color palette and a bunch of new shoes.

We’re sure his publicists (not to mention Teyana Taylor and Pusha T’s teams) aren’t super thrilled, but we are. It’s like a Very Yeezy Christmas came super early.

Keep your eye on his feed.

Kanye West Visits Trump Tower: A Timeline of His Election Behavior

Kanye West startled the world by visiting Trump Tower in New York City this morning to speak with our President elect, after recently being hospitalized due to intense exhaustion.

West and Trump posed briefly for photos after chatting this morning. When journalists asked Trump what the pair had discussed, he responded, “We’ve been friends for a long time,” and added, “Life. We discussed life.” When journalists asked Kanye for a comment, he would only say, “I just want to take a picture right now.”

Prior to today’s visit, West and Trump have had a very interesting relationship.

At a San Jose, CA concert on his Saint Pablo tour on the night of November 17, West told the crowd, “I didn’t vote. But if I would’ve voted, I would’ve voted on Trump.”

Two nights later, West interrupted his Sacramento concert to go on a 17 minute rant about the election and culture in general. He’d performed only two songs, and dropped the mic and left the stage after his speech. Fans were offered full refunds. Here are some excerpts from his tirade:

“It’s a new world, Hillary Clinton, it’s a new world. Feelings matter. Because guess what? Everybody in Middle America felt a way and they showed you how they felt.”

“A lot of people here tonight felt like they lost. You know why? Because y’all been lied to. Google lied to you. Facebook lied to you. Radio lied to you.”

“Beyoncé, I was hurt because I heard that you said you wouldn’t perform unless you won Video of the Year over me and over ‘Hotline Bling.’”

“Obama couldn’t make America great because he couldn’t be him to be who he was. Black men have been slaves. Obama wasn’t allowed to do this and still win. He had to be perfect. But being perfect don’t always change.”

“I’m not always going to say things the perfect way, the right way. But I’m going to say how I feel. Get ready to have a field day, press. Get ready, get ready. Because the show’s over.”

Watch the majority of the speech here:

The following Monday it was announced that the rest of West’s Saint Pablo tour had been cancelled. Hours later, he was hospitalized for exhaustion.

West also included Trump in his controversial “Famous” music video, available below:

Kanye West Reportedly Would Have Voted For Trump If He’d Voted

kanye-west-swish

Sorry, Kanye, I’m going to let you finish, but Hillary Clinton gave one of the best tours of all time this summer.

According to VultureKanye West announced at a San Jose stop on his Saint Pablo Tour last night at the SAP Center that if he had gotten around to voting, it would have been for Donald Trump.

A concertgoer at the event live-Tweeted the entire thing:

Apparently, West spent over an hour simply talking to the crowd, interrupting himself mid-song to do so.

Vulture also reports that West appears to have been a Trump supporter for a long while, but was advised against coming out publicly at the words of Scooter Braun, Justin Bieber’s manager.

Should be a fun holiday season in Calabasas!

Francis and the Lights Features Bon Iver and Kanye in New Video, ‘Friends’

New York-based musical group Francis and the Lights have released a new video for their song “Friends,” featuring Bon Iver and Kanye West. After a close-up on West, the video pans in a single take to frontman Francis Farewell Starlite dancing by himself, before joining Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon for some cool synchronized choreography.

Jake Schreier, who directed the video, talked to Pitchfork about his famous subjects.

On Kanye: “He was great. He was there as long as we needed him to be. He just wanted it to be good and had some good ideas to improve it.”

On Vernon: “When we make these videos, it’s a completely collaborative experience between Francis and I. He’s an equal creative partner in the video. So a lot of the relationships and what’s in there came from him as much as from me. Justin and that relationship was something that very much came from him.”

Check out the gorgeous, minimalist piece, below.

Lena Dunham ‘Sickened’ by Kanye’s Orgy Video

Lena Dunham lashed out at Kanye West today for his video for “Famous,” a track from his latest album “The Life of Pablo.” The video features several celebrities and political figures asleep in bed, presumable post-orgy.

Bodies in the video include West and his wife, Kim Kardashian, Anna Wintour, Rihanna and her abusive ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, Caitlyn Jenner, Ray J, Amber Rose, Donald Trump, Bill Cosby, George W. Bush, and Taylor Swift, whom West raps about in the song.

Dunham, a friend of Swift’s, spoke on her Facebook page about her rejection of the video, and has received a mixture of support and backlash.

Said Dunham: “Let’s break it down: at the same time Brock Turner is getting off with a light tap for raping an unconscious woman and photographing her breasts for a group chat… As assaults are Periscoped across the web and girls commit suicide after being exposed in ways they never imagined… While Bill Cosby’s crimes are still being uncovered and understood as traumas for the women he assaulted but also massive bruises to our national consciousness… Now I have to see the prone, unconscious, waxy bodies of famous women, twisted like they’ve been drugged and chucked aside at a rager? It gives me such a sickening sense of disease.”

West’s video is only available for viewing through Tidal.

Kanye West’s Son Will Be Wearing Custom Baby Yeezys Straight Out of the Womb

Photo via Instagram

While you may not be able to get your hands on a pair of Yeezys—despite their hefty price tag, they sold out almost instantly—there’s one person who still can: Kanye West’s unborn son.

Yes, what’s sure to be America’s most famous spawn (Sorry North, Kanye’s male heir is about to dethrone you) just got his very own pair of custom baby Yeezys and he hasn’t even entered the world yet.

Kim Kardashian, who of course is carrying the golden child in her ever-expanding belly, Instagrammed the pint-sized kicks with the caption “Baby Ye, #1of1.” So not only does this kid get baby Yeezys, they’re the only pair on the planet. Go figure.

And in case you were worrying about little North getting jealous, don’t—she’s already got two toddler-sized pairs to go with all her custom baby Balmain.

9 Best Kanye West Collaborations of All Time

Producer and singer-songwriter James Blake has been vague on the details surrounding his new album Radio Silence, but yesterday brought good news for fans of the Grammy-nominated Englishman. He confirmed in an interview with Esquire that Kanye West, as well as Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, will make appearances on the forthcoming LP. A devout user of superlative statements, West has referred to Blake as his “favorite artist,” so all signs point to the collaboration being a cross-genre success. West is nothing short of an accomplished solo artist (he did declare himself the “greatest living rock star on the planet” at this year’s Glastonbury festival), but some of his best musical moments have been collaborations. In fact, you might say his success would be half of what it is today if it weren’t for all of the artists he’s made music with. Though he’s known to show up in the background of many a Jay Z and Rihanna track, his best collabs have been with members outside of his billionaire club. Here are the best Kanye West collaborations of all time.

Big Sean, “One Man Can Change The World”

Theophilus London, “Can’t Stop”

Kid Cudi, “Erase Me”

Keri Hilson, “Knock You Down”

Kanye West, “Homecoming” ft. Chris Martin

Katy Perry, “E.T.”

Kanye West, “Monster” ft. Jay Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and Bon Iver

Kanye West, “Gold Digger” ft. Jamie Foxx

Kanye West, “Only One” ft. Paul McCartney

Will ‘Swish’ Ever Come Out? Kanye West Shares Update on New Album

Kanye West at Barclays Center via Wikipedia

It’s been two years since rap renegade Kanye West has released a proper LP, and it seems we may have to keep on waiting

In a recent interview with Hot 97, ‘Ye spilled the tea on his upcoming album ‘Swish’. On the LP’s inevitable release, West said he was, “[working] on it slowly, to make it an art project [and] deliver the innovation that I know I can and that I’ve consistently done since 808s [& Heartbreak] and [My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy].”

While we probably shouldn’t expect a Bjork-level “art project” from Kanye, ‘Swish’ has a lot to live up to, so taking his time may indicate a huge addition to his oeuvre. He continued to Ebro and Nessa on Hot 97, “I just want to take some time and focus on my album, my next collection, and North’s birthday,” he said. “Just focus on my family and then be able to recharge and reenergize and bring something of value.”

BlackBook speculated that Kanye West’s new album would drop very, very soon, but this interview suggests we may have to wait. Or, is he just trying to throw the public off the scent before he drops it without warning? We’ve already gotten a taste for ‘Swish’ with three singles (“All Day,” “FourFiveSeconds” and “Only One”), so perhaps it’s closer than he’s letting on.
