Someone Made Animated GIFs of Outer Space!

Hey gang, I really love your Parks and Rec subtitle GIF photoset on your Tumblrs, and, man, that scene from Community was sooooo funny and all, but until you start GOING INTO FUCKING OUTER SPACE, I think we could all use a break from your guerilla marketing campaign for poorly rated NBC sitcoms. Oh, what’s that? A GIF of Honey Boo Boo drinking juice? Yeah, well, here’s an animated GIF of The Pelican Nebula, so, you know, shut up about your looping silent video of a clip from a reality TV show, OK?

Honey Boo Boo and Co. Are the Nicest People in Reality TV

Say what you will about the controversial show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo: the Thompson clan at the center of TLC’s madcap backwoods reality show still remains perhaps the most genuine and nicest group of people on television, especially reality television. Whether it’s the titular Honey Boo Boo’s push for gay rights or the general positive attitude that flows through her veins like go-go juice, the show manages to portray those crazy folks down South as a sweet bunch of people. Take last night’s episode, for example, in which the family donated toys to a local organization that distributes gifts on Christmas; while plenty of critics slam the show for its low-brow sensibility, the folks in front of the camera have done nothing but keep their chins up and prove that they’re probably better than all of us combined.

Charli XCX, Brooke Candy and… Honey Boo-Boo?

Misery loves company, and sometimes the best company can be found in watching other people go through the same things you have on TV, but in a shiny, overexaggerated sort of way. So what better imagery to accompany a song about a relationship gone sour than images of heartbroken television and movie characters? English singer Charli XCX and rapper Brooke Candy (who you may remember from Grimes’ "Genesis" video) joined forces for XCX’s dark and sublime single "Cloud Aura" and its video, released today. In the black-and-white clip, singer and rapper wander interspersed with clips of recognizable and visibly distraught pop culture figures, including Lauren Conrad of The Hills, Zooey Deschanel, Dianna Agron and Britney Spears, as well as Sissy Spacek in Carrie and Honey Boo Boo, who doesn’t look particularly heartbroken, unless it’s over Glitzy the Pig. Also, Pikachu makes a brief appearance.

UK filmmaker Ryan Andrews, who typically operates more in the horror realm, directed the clip. Watch.
