Snoop Dogg has graced the world with more of his artistic talent, though this time he isn’t dropping a new album or impersonating a white man — this time he’s collaborating with Happy Socks.
“For many years, I’ve always wanted to paint, and I’ve been exploring the craft behind the scenes. I find that painting allows me to explore certain emotions I’ve never been able to express through my music or acting,” said Snoop Dogg. “The collaboration with Happy Socks is so natural, because they saw what I was doing and provided me with another platform to further display my artistic abilities.”
The collection of three socks features prints in dark paisley — a print he calls ‘Gin and Juice’ –, painting supplies, and of course, marijuana plants. While some may wonder how these motifs come together, I can’t think of a more cohesive way to encapsulate all that is Snoop Dog’s creative vision.
Snoop Socks will be available worldwide from November 1st.
Last year, we chatted with Happy Socks creative director Viktor Tell about his legwear brand’s wild collaboration with Giles Deacon. Although the range was inspired by the British designer’s RTW collection, we couldn’t help but notice a hint of ’80s inspiration. After all, that decade was known for blindingly bright colors, zany prints, and overall kookiness, which is pretty much the Happy Socks design mantra. That’s why we were pleased to see the brand take their underlying inspiration one step further with a new super ’80s collection, shot by the one and only Terry Richardson.
For the line’s lookbook, Richardson snapped a bunch of notable New Yorkers of all shapes and sizes–literally. The roster includes rapper/cook Action Bronson and model Ashley Smith (pictured), poptart Sky Ferreira, actress Camille Rowe, pro skater Braydon Szafranski, rapper/poet Asap Mykki Rocky White. electric pop hero Maluca Mala, and the Physical Therapy duo.

Ever since the socks and sandals craze, the clothing you wear on your feet has become just as important as the rest of your outfit. Gone are the days of buying standard black and brown two-packs to get you through the seasons—now it’s all about finding socks that make a statement. For in-the-know hosiery hunters, Happy Socks is their one-stop-shop for finding just about any style of socks or tights under the sun. The Swedish company prides itself on their unmatched variety of colors and prints, and is always looking for new ways to add some spunk to their collections. “The idea was to turn an object we use every day into a colorful design item. We wanted to make spreading happiness a business by staying inspired through everyday life, encounters, and travels,” says Happy Socks Creative Director Viktor Tell. Tell’s recent effort was a collaboration with Giles Deacon, a British designer known for his playful designs, which produced an explosion of fun prints that really do lift your mood (and spirit, thanks to their generous initiative for the Elton John AIDS Foundation). “We gave full freedom to Giles on design and we’re super-thrilled that he used patterns from his runway shows,” says Tell. “They’re very personal to Giles and at the same time, very happy. Mission complete!” See more Giles Deacon x Happy Socks and Tell’s digital inspiration board after the jump.
