One of the joys of buying a DVD release of a classic movie is the deleted scenes. Sometimes what ended up in your 90-minute favorite isn’t the best of what the director shot, but instead what he was allowed to include.
One such example is today’s massive release of 50 minutes worth of deleted scenes from David Lynch’s 1986 movie, Blue Velvet on its new Blu-Ray release. Sure, Lynch kept these from ending up in the final version of his film, but watching can give you some new insights into the surreal, Oscar-nominated flick.
And hell, 50 minutes of outtakes isn’t all that different from some David Lynch movies anyway.
