Coachella 2018: Beyoncé, SZA, HAIM, Cardi B, St. Vincent to Grace the Stages

You may remember that Beyoncé was scheduled to headline Coachella last year, before having to pull out due to her pregnancy. A year later, after Lady Gaga had stepped into her 2017 slot, Bey is back, and leads the charge in a distinctly exciting 2018 lineup for the annual festival.

HAIM, SZA, and Cardi B are just a few of the other big names we’re pumped to see on this year’s list – St. Vincent, the Drums, Tyler, the Creator, Kelela and King Krule being a few more. Also headlining are The Weeknd and Eminem.

Coachella will take place the weekends of April 13 and 20 – passes go on sale here at noon PST this Friday, January 5.

Take a look at the full lineup below.

Rihanna Wore a Glittering Gucci Bodysuit to Coachella and Changed Our Lives

Coachella fashion has always been a vessel for some of the most daring looks of the year, and no one takes more advantage of the opportunity than the one and only Bad Gal Riri.

Rihanna won Coachella this year by showing up in a sparkling, crystalline bodysuit designed by Gucci’s Alessandro Michele for the Fall ’17 runway. She toned down the high-glam by accessorizing with a Gucci tank with “Common sense is not common” scribbled upon it, along with denim cutoffs and Fenty x Puma platform sneakers. Take a look at the inspiring look below:

” I can’t go home yet, cuz enough people ain’t seen my outfit “

The suit dazzled when seen moving beneath light, as exemplified in this Twitter video:

Things went from effortless glam to intensely, ominously chic when Rihanna pulled the headpiece of the bodysuit over her head, becoming the first person to be best dressed at Coachella while wearing a diamond-encrusted head sock:

phresh out.

How to Do Your Hair for Coachella: 4 Looks from the Experts at Wonderland Beauty Parlor

We all know by now that Coachella fashion (the beauty, the accessories, the clothes, the makeup, the flash tattoos) lives in a category all of its own. Naturally, you need the perfect festival hair to go with! So we asked the experts at Wonderland Beauty Parlor to create four easy to recreate looks for desert-ready hair. Coachella weekend two, here you come.
1Michael Angelo:
Wonderland muse & journalist Brian Moylan wears his long, layered locks air dried with a generous serving of R+Co’s Mannequin and topped with a special edition Jennifer Behr X Wonderland crown of pink enameled roses, created in celebration of Michael Angelo’s Wonderland Beauty Parlor’s 10th anniversary. This simple look works for anyone.
2Siobhan Quinlan:
For perfectly quaffed festival hair Siobhan Quinlan, stylist at Wonderland Beauty Parlor, starts by adding salt spray in dry hair and adding some loose waves with a wand for texture. Then simply gathers some of your hair and tie it in a knot– like you would the end of a balloon. Leave a few pieces out around the face to keep the look soft and pretty.  Final touches include an allover spray of Oribe’s Dry Texture for extra grip and a Jennifer Behr piece for extra sparkle!
3Siobhan Quinlan:
For a bohemian take on  the festival look, begin with wavy hair, sectioned to create 8 small braids- 4 on the bottom hair line and 4 near the crown of your head. Siobhan seals the braids by teasing the ends and spraying with a little hair spray. Then she take each braid and highlights them with Oribe’s Gold Pomade. Next she gathers all the hair into a ponytail and uses one of the braids to wrap around the pony tail holder. The look is completed with an all over spray of Oribe’s Thickening Spray for a little more body and fullness. Throughout the day the gold sparkles of the pomade will catch on other parts of the hair giving a great all over shine. It you get too hot or want a pop of color you can always grab a Jennifer Behr X Wonderland piece and go from pony to messy bun with one easy comb!
4. Angela Goungoudis:
Get the effortless air dried look with a couple of loose waves incorporated into the hair. Finished with Oribe Aprés Beach Spray and a beautiful gold floral Jennifer Behr piece to top it off!

The passes are in your possession, transportation is nearly settled, you have your outfits and your sunnies packed… Coachella is coming, bbs. But what about the Coachella beauty? Nobody but nobody goes into the desert without a little lip balm…and more importantly, SPF (seriously, slather that sh*t on).

First things first, quickly self-administer a Myers-Briggs personality test, then determine which of the below best fits your needs. Every gal will find her beauty essentials here… so whether you came for AC/DC, Florence + The Machine, or Drake, we’ve got you.

You just want to jam, man. For the girl who smells like patchouli (and maybe a hint of rose), Eminence’s new 3 in 1 cleansing water and Rahua’s body oil are desert lifesavers. And you’d never forget your Aura Spray…

…and you’re even apt to post a product insta to show your beauty goodies. Brands like Korean cult-fave TonyMoly and the brand new Christopher Kane x NARS collab are surefire ways to bring the double taps.

All the Sunglasses You Need for Coachella

We’ve already covered the clothes, bags, and shoes you’ll need to enjoy the desert escapades that Coachella has to offer. Up next? Sunglasses. They’re essential in the desert sun for a few reasons:

1) Protection from the sun
2) Protection from the eyes of security
3) Disguising any lack of sleep
4) Disguising any other… altered states
5) Because they look great

Our favorites range from desert sunset reflecting beauties, to brights, to the glitter filled, to the odd pair that may or may not trip out some of your friends (what is that tiny leopard doing on your face, anyway?) Check ’em out above, then click the links below to shop.

Sandstorm Coachella Massacre

Sometimes during Coachella you really have to take time to rejuvenate at one of the many oasis spots that pop up for the weekend across Palm Desert.

Especially if a sandstorm is threatening to potentially ruin your life. Which is exactly what happened. The gritty winds devoured my camera, and these are the last photos I got before Coachella finally got to me.

Doin’ Angel Haze’s Coachella Hair + 91,000 Other Things

Angel Haze doing her hair in our house before performing with Bastille

This weekend ninety-one thousand people made the pilgrimage to the desert for Coachella. It’s almost too much to handle. On Thursday and Friday we hit every party we could, starting with Tillys x Dickies desert lounge at the Ace Hotel, then headed to the This Is A Love Song house for an after hours, woke up and chilled at HAIM’s house to meet up with our friend Angel Haze while she got ready for her debut Coachella performance with Bastille, saw emo favs AFI before going to soho house for the Elle party with Ireland Baldwin, then came back to see The Knife’s freaky performance art and Outkast’s return performance.  But whether you’re at a chic event, chilling at a pool, or seeing your fav bands, it’s all about who you’re with and who you love.

A good desert party always includes a pool, a point Marc by Marc Jacobs remembered when throwing Desert Gold, MBMJ’s Coachella fun at the Ace Hotel. Marc by provided the sunglasses in a presentation of the spring/summer collection. Once properly apparel-ed, Mamie Gummer, Arcade Fire’s Richard Parry and Jeremy Gara, Scout Willis, and MBMJ designer Katie Hillier crammed themselves into the photo booths. All guests needed to remember was the swimsuit.
