Behind the Scenes of Beyoncé’s September ‘Vogue’ Cover Shoot

Beyoncé’s September Vogue cover is a glossy piece of fashion history: it’s the first time in the magazine’s 126-year-history that the front page has been shot by a black photographer.

The cover spread was also unique in that Beyoncé was given full creative control of the outfits she wore, and she wrote the entire accompanying piece, a confessionally-structured, highly transparent explanation of her journey with motherhood, family, and heritage that you can read here.

Today, Vogue has released behind-the-scenes footage of Bey’s cover shoot with 23-year-old Tyler Mitchell.

Beyoncé’s Historic ‘Vogue’ Cover Is Finally Here

Today, Beyoncé makes history with the glossy cover of Vogue’s September issue, the first cover ever in the magazine’s 126-year history to be shot by a black photographer.

Tyler Mitchell, 23 years old, captured Bey in giant floral headpieces, sprawled on staircases, and generally oozing divinity.

Beyoncé wrote the entire accompanying article herself, which explores her relationship with her post-baby body, paving the way for younger black artists, as well as her Coachella and On The Run II performances, and her ancestry, among other things. Read it in full here.

Vogue’s First Cover Using A Black Photographer Will Be Beyoncé

Beyoncé is about to make history with the upcoming September issue, appearing on the first American Vogue cover ever to be shot by a black photographer…in its 126 years.

The issue will be historic for more than one reason: Beyoncé has been given complete creative control over the images and spread. She’s chosen her own outfits, written each caption herself, and, of course, hired the photographer: 23-year-old Tyler Mitchell.

“I depict black people and people of color in a really real and pure way,” Mitchell told The New York Times. “There is an honest gaze to my photos.”

Never before has Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour loosened her grip on her magazine – until now, she’s had complete creative control over everything, including (especially) the cover shoots. Rumors are currently circulating that this could be Wintour’s last September issue.

Huffington Post also reports that Beyoncé has declined to do an interview accompanying the cover spread.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z’s New Album is Now on Spotify & Apple Music

Beyoncé apparently does have a f*ck to give about streaming numbers – her and Jay-Z’s new joint album, Everything Is Love, is now on Spotify and Apply Music.

By now you’ve probably heard that the world’s most powerful couple in music released a surprise album over the weekend, a 9-track R&B/rap masterpiece that features the breakout single “APESH*T,” which came accompanied with a music video filmed inside The Louvre.

At first, the album was predictably only available on Jay-Z’s streaming service, Tidal, but as of today, the record is now available on Spotify premium, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Google Play, iTunes, and other streaming services.

Funnily enough, there’s a lyric on the record where Beyoncé raps: “My success can’t be quantified / If I gave two fucks about streaming numbers, would’ve put Lemonade up on Spotify/ Fuck you, fuck you.” But now it seems she’s reconsidered.

Take a listen.

Beyoncé & Jay Z Are Going On Tour Together Again

Beyoncé and Jay Z seem to have sorted out any problems they had with their marriage: the ultimate power couple have announced the On The Run 2 tour, another worldwide stadium show to follow-up from 2014’s On The Run.

When the pair first did a global show together, they’d each just released major albums: Beyoncé’s iconic self-titled album and Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail. Since then, news of less-than-happy moments in the marriage have become public knowledge, as both Beyoncé and Jay-Z explored the pain of the latter’s infidelity on their latest records, Lemonade and 4:44, respectively.

Jay-Z rapped about the former tour on his 4:44 track “MaNyfaCedGod,” revealing that there was great strife behind-the-scenes of the seemingly euphoric show, which revealed intimate wedding and baby footage. Jay sang:

“On the Run, we took a hundred together / More than the money, it was the fact that we done it together / Uh, healing in real time / ‘Song Cry’ to ‘Resentment,’ that was real crying.”

Since then, though, the couple have had a pair of twins and Beyoncé is set to perform at Coachella this April, her first live show since singing pregnant at the Grammys.

On The Run 2 begins June 6 in the UK and ends in October in Canada, making its way through the States from July through September. Tickets go on presale this Wednesday here.

Beyoncé Is Reportedly Going To Be Featured on Cardi B’s Album

In perhaps the most pivotal music collab of 2017, Beyoncé is rumored to be appearing in a track on Cardi B’s new album.

The rapper behind the history-making single “Bodak Yellow” is making waves again after her sound engineer leaked the possible collab on his Instagram story. “Wow this feature is big,” producer Michael Ashby posted, alongside a photo that reads “Cardi B feat. Beyoncé.” The news seems to be all but confirmed since Cardi B asked fans to remove pics and videos.

It’s an unusual move for Beyoncé, who’s typically very picky with her collaborators. Cardi does, after all, only have one major chart-topping song – though she’s soon to appear on G Eazy’s “No Limit.”

Twitter account “The Beyhive” reports that an insider source has confirmed the collaboration and revealed that Cardi’s upcoming album is finished. Take a look at the receipts of it all.
