Magician-comedian-philosopher Penn Jillette once incisively asserted, “Bacon is so good by itself that to put it in any other food is an admission of failure. You’re basically saying, ‘I can’t make this other food taste good, so I’ll throw in bacon.’”
Chicago’s waggishly hip Acme Hotel apparently shares some epicurean philosophical ground with Jillette, having launched in 2014 an impressively comprehensive tribute to those ethereal little strips of pork, pithily titled Baconmania. No surprise, its success has warranted a sequel, which will commence with the Bacon Month Kickoff Cocktail Party on March 31.
The hotel will host bacon tastings at its Berkshire Room restaurant April 8th & 15th, as well as the Bacon Art Revolution class on the 16th, and screenings of classic Kevin Bacon films every Tuesday in its Einstein room (yes, there will be bacon-dusted popcorn.) All this will lead up to Chicago’s own annual Baconfest pork out on the 17th and 18th.
For a fully immersive experience, book the hotel’s Peace, Love & Bacon package, which includes tickets to Baconfest and…wait for it…bacon pastries! (From the in-house West Town Bakery.)
As for local vegetarians…direct flights to Mumbai start at just $979.
