Simple, tidy surroundings in which arguably some of the best food in North America is served. Was once, indeed, a laundry (albeit one in an 18th century farmhouse). Thomas Keller’s flagship is pure perfection. Each of the chef’s nine courses (not one ingredient is repeated throughout the meal and and the menu changes daily) are brought to you by a server whose mission is “delicacy of performance, execution or artisanship.” You can expect all three. You can also expect to need a guide navigating the 2,500-strong wine list. DId we mention? Perfection.
