Just as Cirque du Soleil was likely the launch pad for a still mushrooming trend of nightclubs-as-avant-circuses, Vegas itself has become the incubator for the company’s wildest creative proclivities.
The latest is a one-night-only fashion and art extravaganza called Hippie Chic, which will take over CdS’ Light Club at Mandalay Bay tonight, September 24. In collaboration with MAC and Parasuco Jeans, it will bring together local and regional artists (Charmaine Olivia, Sarah Sandin), experiential stations, and music by Sultan + Ned Shepard.
Particular highlights will include a Fair and Honest Appraisal of Your Appearance station by performance duo The Bumbys, and special Wanderlust cocktails, featuring (would we kid you?) mouth-numbing Szechuan buzz buttons.
As for the dress code? Feathers and flowers, naturally, are enthusiastically encouraged.
After the one night of flamboyant Hippiefication, Light returns to its regular mayhem and top international DJ talent, which in the coming weeks will include the considerable likes of Dannic, A-Trak and Krewella.
