For many, it’s the Monday after the longest Halloween celebration ever. I saw people in costumes last night. At least I thought they were costumes. For many, it’s the Monday before Election Day. The club set will vote for DiBlasio. If they wake up. Most can’t name the other guy. I’m going to keep this short today. There are two wonderful events coming up. First off I am dying to catch my favorite double entendre Miss Guy at the Gramercy Theater (127 East 23rd Street.) The famously fabulous DJ and member of The Toilet Boys is performing with his solo band. They are opening for the infamous and fabulous Cherie Currie of The Runaways. This figures to attract the wickedly attractive downtown set and I will be there.
Next on my agenda is the collaboration between Anthony Haden-Guest and Lorraine Leckie. The Rudely Interrupted residency can be caught at the Sidewalk Cafe (94 Avenue A) on November 15th at 11 p.m. A glimpse of Lorraine’s work featuring her hubby Billy Leroy and her dog Eloise can be seen here. Anthony Haden-Guest is a writer. He has written a weekly art column for the Financial Times. He has written for Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, British GQ, Rolling Stone, The Paris Review, Esquire, The Sunday Times, Radar, The Observer, and The Telegraph… lots of etceteras. Among the many books he has written, Studio 54 was embodied in The Last party. It goes on and on and on. He is a wonderful pain in the ass.
Halloween starts the prosperous season in the club biz. From now until New Years with all the holiday parties in between is non-stop. It’s going to happen fast so pay attention.
