Halloween just won’t stop. There is yet another Halloween-type event tonight at the fabulous Bowery Hotel (335 Bowery). My man Jeffrey Jah along with Matt Levine, Sebastian Nicholas, and a bunch of other bold face names are joining up with Daily Front Row for a post holiday masquerade. Masks are preferred over smelly reused costumes. A crew of DJs including Drek Martinez, Sal Morale, Alexandra Richards, Lino, and Emily hope will keep things hopping.
The week that was had me missing too many events I really wanted to attend. Galore Media invited me to catchRun.Catch.Kill, a film starring Mia Tyler, Ashley Smith, and Liam Dean. It was written and directed by Joey Falsetta. It showed at the Tribeca Grand Hotel with an after party slam at The Raven. Alas I could not make it… nevermore…
If I have the energy I will attend the Dia De Los Muertas: A Neo Traditional Art Ritual with interactive play by visual artists Viajero and Borish. This intriguing event will take place at Julio De Burgos Cultural Center (1680 Lexington Avenue) starting at 6 p.m. It runs Saturday as well.
One of my all-time favorite bands are the Brats, a Glam/Pop Rock band with front man Keith West. They are playing Grand Victory (245 Grand Street in Brooklyn) Saturday night. It’s Twig Wonderkid’s Glamgammit Rock Candy party. Astro Earle is hosting. The Nuclears and J and the 9’s are opening. I’m sold on it
Limelight’s old stoooopid hot party Future Shock is coming back replete with original DJ Repete. The flyer says November 3rd, doors 4:30 a.m…. so it’s like that. Submerge is coming from Chicago to join Justin Schumacher. That flier says, “hosted by The Club Kids” although I know for a fact some of them aren’t available. This party will be at System (32-10 37th Avenue in Long Island City). Personally I can’t go back again but Future Shock did change the scene drastically and I do believe this might be amazing.
I’m writing this at 5 a.m. after DJing till 4 a.m. two nights in a row. My feet hurt, my ears are ringing and I have to be up in two hours. Now that’s future shock.
