Paramount Network’s reboot of the 1988 dark teen comedy Heathers was one of the year’s most anticipated new shows until its premiere was delayed. Following the Parkland shooting, the network announced they were pushing back the March 7 premiere to an unspecified date.
“Paramount Network’s original series Heathers is a satirical comedy that takes creative risks in dealing with many of society’s most challenging subjects ranging from personal identity to race and socio-economic status to gun violence,” the network released in a statement at the time. “While we stand firmly behind the show, in light of the recent tragic events in Florida and out of respect for the victims, their families and loved ones, we feel the right thing to do is delay the premiere until later this year.”
Today, they’ve officially announced the new date: in a promo released via Instagram, the network revealed a July 10 premiere. That only gives us a couple months to preserve the greatness of the original classic before we find out its ultimate television fate.
