NYC Soho store was once the American flagship of the Japanese-based brand (new flagship is in Midtown). Three-story haven where design freaks, fashionistas, and Tokyophiles meet in the middle. Free on-site altering for those jeans that’re an inch too long; sometimes sold out of the particular shirt you’re looking for, but since they have it in forty other colors, you’re going to grab it. Gets tourist-slammed on the weekends; make sure to hit it at an off-hour to get the (otherwise harried) customer service attention you require.
