Blue Smoke

Open-pit grilling ain’t allowed in Manhattan, but Danny Meyer (of Gramercy Tavern and Union Square Café fame) avoids the problem with hi-tech scrubbers and 15-story smokestacks. Industrial theme carries through to brick and ductwork interior. Gorge on Memphis-style baby backs, hush puppies with jalapeño marmalade, and pulled pork on a homemade brioche. Yeah, it’s a bourgeois barbeque, but your taste buds won’t be complaining.
