Mexico’s TITAN may not be terribly familiar to those living north of the border; but, formed in 1992, they are by now Latin American synth pop legends. And after a ten-year silence, their new Nick Launay (Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) produced record DAMA will finally see the light of day this October, featuring guest appearances by the likes of Gary Numan, Egyptian Lover and Bananarama’s Siobhan Fahey.
In the lead up, they’ve released a cool slice of retro-electro-deesko titled “Dama Fina” (it translates to “Fine Lady,” in case you were wondering). Musically, it’s something like Duran Duran’s “Union of the Snake” if it were run through a Teutonic, Kraftwerkian filter.
The freaky accompanying video is set in a seemingly post-apocalyptic Mexico City warehouse, where everyone is curiously incredibly buff – and some unfortunate pretty thing is being marched to her ultimate demise. Very New Wave, then.
