New York-based trio Pearl and the Beard recently announced their dissolution after eight years of making music together. Growing from three independent artists meeting at New York’s open mic nights to running nation-wide tours, Jocelyn Mackenzie, Emily Hope Price, and Jeremy Styles have collected a series of accolades and triumphs unmatched by most of their peers. Their brand of Folk-Pop, idiosyncratic in their gripping, three-part vocal harmonies and incorporation of boundless instruments, first came through on their debut album At Home With Pearl and the Beard. Today, the group is leaving their fans with a parting gift—the release of their third and final album, nbso online casino reviews BEAST.
While the band cited reaching an “impasse” about their future as a reason for the break, their final album boasts of creative cohesiveness, including some of their most promising work to date. About the new material, the band tells BlackBook:
We are proud to put into your hands BEAST – our third and final album as the band Pearl and the Beard. This album is a sincere musical statement of the love we have for the art of music making and the admiration we hold for those who love listening. It is a truly collaborative expression of the uniquely individual musical personalities of each band member. Through a detailed process of twisting, manipulating, and experimenting, along with our producer, Nadim Issa, we worked together to expand and intertwine our favorite elements of folk, rock, pop, film, and electronic music to form our final – BEAST.
The band will be playing a final farewell show November 19 @ Bowery Ballroom – tickets available here
