Guest DJ: In Flight Safety Shares Their Favorite Tunes

While it’s easy to find great music online by hitting up the plethora of blogs that exist, perhaps one of the best ways is by asking other successful musicians what they are currently listening to. We’re going to be doing that more often here at BlackBook, hosting a “Guest DJ” every week to let us know some of their favorite tracks at the moment.

To kick things off, we asked the dudes from In Flight Safety, a band from Halifax, Nova Scotia to tell us some of their current favorite tracks. We’ve listed them below, but also make sure to check out the bands own album, Conversationalist.

Wilderness of Manitoba – Leave Someone

Leave someone right now and put this song on.

Cayucas – High School Lover

If late 90s Beck and Surfer Blood played your high school prom.

Chromatics – The Page

This is a new-to-me song. Proof that I sometimes live under a rock in Nova Scotia. Verb’d out surf guitar on the right side paired with that Boss Chorus guitar on the left. Magic.

High Ends – Intoxicated

In awe of a tour mate, friend, all round nice dude. Jeff Innes from Yukon Blonde. You’re welcome.

Tycho – See

You could put this whole record (Awake) on repeat and drive from one coast of Canada to the other and never get tired of it.

The Walkmen – Heartbreaker

By now I have about 6 different harmonies I can sing along to this track. It’s in constant rotation. Hamilton for prez. President of awesome.

Brothertiger –  Something About You (Level 42 cover)

Put this on and crimp your hair.

Sounds like Wild Nothing had an effeminate love child with Shout Out Louds.

Craft Spells – Breaking The Angle Against The Tide

Matt Pond PA – Love To Get Used

Had heard of Matt Pond for ages but this song seemingly came out of nowhere. It’s a ripper.

Interpol – All The Rage Back Home

We jammed out to this after every load out during the recent UK dates. For Glen who did ALL our driving on the left hand side of the road rather masterfully.
