TBD has stepped up its game this year with Chance the Rapper.
Last September, we shared some of our favorite up-and-coming acts from Sacramento’s TBD Fest, a young but increasingly noteworthy watering hole for music lovers. At the time, we were mostly excited about new discoveries like Sister Crayon, Total Slacker, and Paws, thrilled to be at a festival with an impeccably curated lineup featuring the best new music. The festival has majorly stepped up its name game this year, announcing the inclusion of Chicago native Chance the Rapper to the official lineup.
Born Chancelor Bannett, the twenty-two year old Chance started off by using a 10 day suspensions during his senior year of high school to record his first mix tape, 10 Days. He had a breakthrough in 2013 with his second mixtape, Acid Rap, which helped the newcomer gain the attention of numerous music publications as well as established artists, such as Childish Gambino, who asked Chance to join him on a 2012 American tour. Later, with his discography still comprised entirely of mixtapes, Chance had achieved enough popularity to perform at 2013’s Lollapalooza.
During September 18th-20th, Chance will be joining the likes of Tyler, The Creator, Purity Ring, Ty Dolla $ign, and RATATAT. Tickets are on sale HERE.
