Someday soon, you might just be paying more for your parking spot than your hotel room when you visit San Francisco. The city is notorious for ridiculous fees — some upwards of $40 a night — just for the privilege of leaving your car overnight in a lot (no in and outs!). The fees are not easing up even in the face of plunging hotel room pricing. For example, rates at the Hotel Triton are hovering at $139 a night, and yet the parking fee is standing tall at $38 a night.
The Ritz-Carlton has slashed prices almost in half, and yet, the parking fees are still at $45. Similarly, the W is offering 50% off your second night as part of their “Better Tomorrows” package, but you’ll be paying $45 a night for your car to hang out too. The good news is that if you can figure out a way to not bring a car, San Francisco is the cheapest it’s been in a very long time.
