Watch the New ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ Trailer

Before seeing David O. Russell’s latest drama, Silver Linings Playbook, I hadn’t even watched a trailer for the film. I went into it blindly, really only knowing the main cast members and having a very vague idea about the premise. But to my pleasure, it was far better than anything anticipated and I found myself pretty profoundly moved by the whole experience of the film. So upon going in reverse and watching the trailer when I got home that night, I thought, "Well hey, that doesn’t feel like what I just watched at all." For one reason or another, it just felt a bit too feel-good, making it seem precious, when in reality it’s a film with great emotional weight. But now, after winning the People’s Choice Award at Toronto and opening to critic’s praise, The Weinstein Company has released a second trailer. And this time, it serves as a much better preview for what’s to come–highlighting the comedy and charged energy of the story.

Based on the novel of the same title by Matthew Quick, Silver Linings Playbook tells the story of Pat (played by Bradley Cooper), a former high school teacher who moves back in with his parents (played by Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver) after being released from a court-ordered stint in a mental hospital. As he tries to reconcile with his new life and his estranged wife, he meets Tiffany (played by Jennifer Lawrence), a young widow with troubles of her own.

The film is set to be released on November 21st, which really feels like a shame considering how much I’d like to see it again this weekend.
