Exploring life’s ennui in the face of desiring the unattainable or that which we’ve yet to grasp, is a road Noah Baumbach is wont to travel in his films. And with the highly-anticipated Frances Ha, he and co-writer/star Greta Gerwig examine one woman’s yearning for more from life, love, friendship, and the ability to pursue her own passion.
Baumbach gives us a black and white look of New York and the people inhabiting Frances’ world in a film that’s both endearingly funny and reflective. We’ve seen clips from the film but the first official trailer has been released today in anticipation for the film’s May 17th release via IFC Films. Featuring lots of dancing and awkward Frances moments set to David Bowie’s “Modern Love” the trailer highlights the playful and poignant moments of the film and makes for a rather wonderful trailer. Take a look.
