The Weeknd Cites Michael Jackson as Inspiration in New Spike Lee Documentary (Watch)

Chi-Raq director Spike Lee’s career has been filled with projects centered on the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, kickstarting with their 1996 music video for “They Don’t Care About Us.” More recently in 2012, he directed the documentary, Bad 25, and now Lee’s back with another doc, Michael Jackson’s Journey From Motown To Off The Wall, slated for Showtime premiere Feb. 5.

In an exclusive preview of the clip, we’re shown an array of energetic archival footage and interviews with musicians inspired by Jackson, including The Weeknd, Questlove and David Byrne. “I always use Michael, first and foremost, as a vocal inspiration,” The Weeknd relishes. “I found my falsetto because of Off The Wall, ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.'” Watch, below:
