Escape the Post-Holiday Existential Crisis with a Movie

The day after Christmas always begs the question: all that excitement and for what—now what? If you’re one of the post-holiday few off for the week, you’ve probably managed to escape the city and are hopefully lounging in the warmth of the sun somewhere. But if not, the best thing to do on a frozen-yet-dripping day like today, is head down to the theater and catch up on the films you’ve been missing for the past year, or just those you can never get enough of. From the timeless Bernstein classic musical tale of West Side Story that premiered over fifty years ago, to Miguel Gomes’ entrancing new feature Tabu that hits theaters today, there’s plenty to help ward off the post-blue Christmas melancholia that will be setting in shortly.
