Sofia Coppola’s films tend to cover a wide range of narrative subjects—from fantastical depressive teens to lavish 18th-century royalty—but there’s always something about them that feel distinctly her. It’s a soft-lit, dreamy quality that’s more heavy-hearted than twee—always atmospheric, always beautiful. And with her upcoming fashion heist movie, The Bling Ring, we get a taste of the same Sofia aesthetic, but elevated in a more glitzy, flashy world than we’re used to.
The film follows a clique of indulgent high schoolers who rob celebrity home from Paris Hilton to Lindsay Lohan. Based on the 2010 Vanity Fair article "The Suspect Wore Louboutins" Coppola’s fashion heist film stars Emma Watson and Leslie Mann alongside newcomers, Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Pfister, Georgia Rock and Carlos Miranda.
And with a new series of stills from The Bling Ring, you get a look at Leslie Mann with her celebrity dream board, Gavin Rossdale as a sleazy club owner, the young girls chillin in said club, and Sofia on set.
