The Peeping Toms over at The Coveteur have really outdone themselves with their latest room raid. On a recent trip to Paris, they were invited to snap the infamous digs of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, which is apparently nothing like the late designer’s signature black-and-white design aesthetic, and is actually very "Orient/Occident-inspired," as The Coveteur describes it. Either way, we’re jealous.
As demonstrated in the site’s tour of Rachel Zoe’s ace office space, The Coveteur’s dreamy images of the apartment include insightful commentary on the experience. A few interesting decor details of note: all of Coco’s books have deep red tones (like her signature lipstick); while other designers used velvet or silk cloth for furniture, the rebellious Coco used suede to create a couch for her library room; and the mirrored walls that lead to the iconic staircase (pictured) were used by Coco to instantly see all the reactions from press during the fashion shows held downstairs.
