Despite the fact that Lara Stone may see her curvaceous, size-4 frame as “fat” when compared with her stick-thin runway mannequin counterparts, the model’s rapidly rising star is showing no signs of slowing. Having opened numerous high-profile shows, an entire issue of Paris Vogue dedicated to her (not to mention reappearing recently in the rag sporting blackface and spawning loads of controversy), and gracing an enviable collection of magazine covers, Stone has now caught the eye of Marc Jacobs. According to Women’s Wear Daily, Stone will be following in Madonna’s footsteps and appearing in the next series of ads for Louis Vuitton.
“Word has it the Dutch model has been booked to feature in Louis Vuitton’s spring-summer fashion campaign, to be lensed by photographer Steven Meisel in New York,” adds WWD. Considering Eres likewise booked the model for its FW09 ad campaign (after she starred in their SS09 lingerie ads), and she appears (as a brunette) in the new ads for Sonia Rykiel’s lingerie collection for H&M, there’s no shortage of a scantily clad Stone on billboards this season. The fashion industry may still be unhealthily obsessed with a size-zero ideal when it comes to women’s bodies, but if fall ads (e.g. Stone’s resume) are any indication, no one is tiring of seeing one of fashion’s most “realistic” mannequins in as little clothing as possible.
