Georgina Chapman — one-half of the design duo behind Marchesa, and the better half of producer Harvey Weinstein — is embarking on uncharted territory with her latest endeavor: jewelry. The British-born actress and former model has just inked a deal to become jewelry house Garrard’s debut guest designer. It’s the latter’s “first high profile signing since Jade Jagger’s contract ended last year,” Vogue UK reports.
Chapman told the aforementioned fashion rag that, while she’s long loved jewelry, she’s “by no means Elizabeth Taylor.” Considering she’s the heiress to a coffee fortune and that her husband backs some of the biggest blockbusters in Hollywood, I have no doubt her jewel collection could set some Christie’s auction records. Chapman’s Gerrard designs won’t debut until New York Fashion Week next September, but rest assured you’ll be seeing plenty of it on the red carpet soon after.
