Last week we poured over the Roaring ’20s chapter of Free People’s new style tome, Through the Decades. With each chapter dedicated to a different fashion era, we were curious to see how the retailer would interpret the modern looks of today. For their final chapter, they indeed have a go at contemporary style, and, in true Free People fashion, it’s a mash-up of just about every celebrated style.
A dash of ’90s grunge, a hint of ’70s disco, a smidgen of ’20s flair, and a heavy dose of modern sportswear, Alexei Hay’s photos of models Elsa Hosk, Chrishell Stubbs, and Tallulah Morton represent the experimental spirit of today’s girl. By clashing patterns, decades, and moods, Free People’s modern maven veers toward an effortlessly eccentric look that’s less about fitting in and more about finding freedom.
