CFDA Encourages Live Tweeting at Tonight’s Fashion Awards

At 6:30pm EST, top fashion players will gather at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center to salute the nominees and honorees of the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards. One look at the recognized roster of talent proves that this year’s event is not to be missed. And, thanks to technology, we all have a front row seat to the show, where we can watch Marc Jacobs’ receive a Lifetime Achievement award speech, see what Lady Gaga wears to accept her Fashion Icon award, and just maybe, witness Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen take home their first Swarovski Award for The Row. Although you can watch the livestream, CFDA is also amping up their Wi-Fi to ensure all guests can tweet every last detail.

Today, the organization tweeted the above image with the following message: “Wifi check. Everyone can tweet from the show so stay tuned tonight!” This is the first year that they’ve openly-recognized the communication service, which is a progressive move on CFDA’s part and goes to show that fashion – at least in the digital respect – is no longer a members-only club.
