Bergdorf Goodman, Prabal Gurung Named Luxury Leaders in Social Media

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, than you’re up to speed on luxury brands’ quest to earn a digital presence this year. And it looks like we’re not alone, because today Luxury Daily announced the top 10 luxury marketers utilizing social media to stay relevant in the digital age. 1. Bergdorf Goodman: No surprise here, as we’ve been watching the brand’s digital takeover since day one.

2. Breitling: The Swiss watchmaker launched a Facebook contest earlier this year, where the winner received a pilot’s license and was trained by the branded flying team.

3. Bulgari: The Italian brand launched an interactive “Enchanted Garden” app on Facebook that allowed fans to digitally travel through the garden featured in the Mon Jasmin Noir fragrance ad, starring Kirsten Dunst.

4. Diane von Furstenberg: Highlights include the luxury brand’s collaboration with Gilt Groupe and engaging tweets from Ms. DVF herself.

5. Dolce & Gabbana: Their digital magazine, Swide, and Stefano Gabbana’s active tumbling contribute to the Italian fashion brand’s newly-connected fan base.

6. Ermenegildo Zegna: Their “Are You In” Facebook campaign and interactive mobile app have taken the Italian fashion house to the next level.

7. Marc Jacobs: Linking with international fashion blogger Elin Kling generated 94,000 visits to the brand’s website after just one day. Genius.

8. Michael Kors: In addition to engaging their Facebook fans by polling questions on daily life and Kors products, the brand allows them to shop new arrivals two hours before they’re released to the public.

9. Oscar de la Renta: OscarPRGirl. Need we say more?

10. Prabal Gurung: The CFDA winner created a catchy music video that featured M.I.A.’s protégé, Baltimore rapper Rye Rye, sporting his debut Resort 2012 pieces (see one look above). To generate buzz leading up to the release, the designer took to Twitter with teasers that included the clever “#newthing” hashtag.
