Amber Valletta is set to join the ranks of the countless model-turned-designers (the roster includes Kate Moss, Erin Wasson, Natalia Vodianova, and Elle Macpherson, for starters). According to Women’s Wear Daily, “the 35-year-old model and actress is collaborating with the Los Angeles-based Monrow contemporary sportswear brand to launch her own apparel collection, which is called Amber Valletta for Monrow.” The line is said to feature “tissue-thin T-shirts and tanks for easy layering; day dresses that easily can be dressed up for evening events; a romper (which Valletta said she insisted upon adding since she ‘lives in them’); a classic tailored blazer; a fleece printed hoodie; a cape accented with fringe detail, and a smoking jacket,” adds WWD.
In other words, it’s a lot of basics (uber-thin tees, smoking jackets, and tailored blazers, which are timeless) as well as more trend-sensitive wares like rompers and fringed capes. Considering Valletta has been in the business a long time, there’s no doubt the line will be well worth checking out; if there’s one thing supermodels know, it’s clothes. But, while she’s already hard at working on designing the next season of her capsule collection for Monrow, Valletta isn’t giving up her other post-modeling incarnation: acting. She just wrapped up shooting alongside Jackie Chan and Billie Ray Cyrus (yes, that’s correct) for the flick The Spy Next Door, which hits theaters next year.
