Alexa Chung doesn’t know how to not be cool. The British model-turned-TV presenter’s effortless style and quirky charm won us over long before MTV’s short-lived series, It’s On With Alexa Chung, and long after her various defunct hosting efforts. There’s something about her delicately disheveled femininity that the blogosphere can’t get enough of, which is how she’s managed to crash Madewell’s site with her collections and turn Mulberry into the world’s top-selling fashion house.
According to WWD, cult-favorite French label Maje is the latest label to jump on the Chung train. They’ve taped the perpetually Peter Pan-collared one to star in their fall 2012 advertising campaign, lensed by Glen Luchford at the Porte des Lilas subway station in Paris. As retro style is no doubt an It girl requisite, Maje made sure to infuse their shoot with some sixties black-and-white cinema flair.
French brands and Chung go hand-in-hand because although she’s a Londoner, she certainly has that je ne sais quoi akin to Parisian style icons Francoise Hardy, Jane Birkin, Lou Doillion and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Although she’s definitely one of Karl Lagerfeld’s front row darlings, it’s about time that she fronts a Chanel campaign, no?
