Just like that, Nicola Formichetti has a new, high-profile gig. Hot off this week’s news hat the outre stylist/designer was exiting his two-year stint as creative director of Mugler, it has just been revealed that he’s been crowned Diesel’s new artistic director.
"I finally met somebody as crazy as I am," says Diesel founder Renzo Rosso in a release. "Nicola shares my vision and I find it incredibly inspiring to work with him: two creative planets are colliding to generate fresh, mad, insane ideas. With his help, I want to break more rules and bring the real Diesel to a new generation."
In classic Formichetti fashion, the social media star posted the above photo of him and Rosso on Instagram in the wee hours and captioned it with, "The new diesel partners in crime @renzorosso #diesel."
To celebrate the move, Formichetti’s first order of biz is leading the DIESELREBOOT project, which now has its very own "unruly, all-access zone" here. From fall 2013 on, he’ll head all creative activities for Diesel’s main line. Woo!
