It’s a long way from Detroit to Dubai. But our fave rock & roll rebel designer John Varvatos has at last made the trip. Indeed, his first Middle East shop opened last week with a performance by Cleveland rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
Located on the now internationally famous Fashion Avenue in The Dubai Mall (widely believed to be the largest shopping center in the known universe), its hand-finished herringbone wood floors, handmade silk rugs, black crown molding, stark white walls and signature Edison Chandelier echo the design of JV’s Madison Avenue flagship. But with the glittering city confirmed to be the region’s busiest travel hub, one expects an entirely new clientele will be scanning the racks of his luxe-rocker fashions, towards the express goal of a decidedly more sensational wardrobe.
“I’m so excited to be opening our first store in Dubai,” he enthuses. “The city has always been very progressive in style and art, so it feels like a perfect fit for the John Varvatos brand. Our day to night masculine sensibility has resonated with the Dubai man shopping in our London and New York stores for many years; and to have a flagship here is a dream come true.”
The new boutique will feature pieces from the John Varvatos Collection, John Varvatos Star U.S.A. and Bootleg by John Varvatos – notably his iconic leather outerwear styles, as well as accessories including jewelry, eyewear and fragrances.
