Dubai is home to the world’s tallest skyscraper, the world’s largest shopping mall, the world’s largest candy store, and now, the world’s largest shoe store. Level Shoe District soft-launched in Dubai Mall today and boasts 96,000 square feet of shoe porn, including 15,000 different (yes, different!) styles and a Condé Nast-operated Vogue Café. Damn.
Although the mega store is 80% complete, WWD reveals it is "double the size of the world’s largest shoe floors including Selfridges in London and Macy’s in New York" and "will have the spring collection of Louis Vuitton four to six weeks before anywhere else in the world." Additional features include two massive women’s sections (designer and contemporary), a men’s area, a trends department with 40 designer concessions, a VIP room, an in-house cobbler to create bespoke shoes, and a concept store called "The Zoo" that will feature a range of Middle Eastern brands in an effort to support local talent.
"This is a place for people who are passionate about shoes, who are addicted to shoes, who are obsessed about shoes," Chalhoub Group CEO Patrick Chalhoub tells WWD. Go big or go home?
