With climate change a daily worry for the citizens of Venezia, you have to admire their unshakeable determination to carry on with the business of daily life. And so on May 23, the Biennale Architettura will open for its 17th edition; and some four months later—September 12 to be exact—another Venice Film Festival will again bring unparalleled glamour and star power to the ethereal city on the Lagoon.
Those pouring in to the capital of the Veneto for such happenings will of course need somewhere appropriately fabulous to shop. And Fendi has just debuted a perfect excuse to slip away from the schmoozing: a stunning new boutique on the chic Calle Larga De l’Ascension, in the San Marco sestiere.
Spread over four floors, it retains original elements like the terrazzo floor and marmorino walls. The famous Lagerfeld FF logo is notably recreated with ivory stucco motifs. Elsewhere, vintage furnishings mix with the classic light blue velvet armchairs by Fendi Casa and a 1960 coffee table by Luigi Caccia Dominioni. Further Fendi Casa chairs are done up in striking floral embroidery.
The ground floor is dedicated to women’s bags and accessories, first floor is womenswear and shoes, second floor is men’s, and a top floor is the VIP space, with geometric stucco walls and panoramic terrace.
Best of all (especially for Hollywood sorts), it’s an eco-conscious shopping experience, with full LEED certification.
