We don’t expect anything less than a tour de force of creativity when it comes to the Barney’s holiday windows each season. And while it may only be November, the fashion scene is taking on the holiday season full-swing. Baz Dazzled–the official name given to Barney’s holiday windows designed by filmmaker Baz Lurhmann, and his wife, costume designer, Catherine Martin, add a big dose of decadent whimsy to Madison Avenue.
Last night, one of the chillest of the season thus far, this year’s windows were unveiled to guests including Hamish Bowles, Dakota Fanning, and Lisa Perry, while Pentatonix performed Christmas carols. Lurhmann and Martin seem like the type who genuinely have a blast working together so just imagining them dreaming up the stories behind the windows is a treat.and the Barneys New York creative team.
“In this mythical BAZ DAZZLED world, classical woodland creatures come to life in an urban environment: a contortionist b-boy elf, a wise old ‘True Owl’ who speaks the truth, a graffiti-ing squirrel who makes use of his gold spray paint through Barneys and beyond, and Celestina the ice princess, eternally skating and longing to be set free—with the whole mythical world ruled over by the Luna and Solar Queens.” Truly the imagery of the films the duo collaborate on.
Afterwards, partygoers were lead by a drum-line to a dinner at the Central Park zoo which continued the fairy-tale, woodland theme.
