In addition to being a highly respected musician, composer and conductor, the many-talented Frenchman Thomas Roussel has also made music for mega fashion houses like Dior, Kenzo and Chanel – assuring that the clothes sound as good as they look.
Under the sobriquet Prequell, he also conjures compositions that strikingly blur the lines between electronic and classical music – the latest collection of which will be gathered for the upcoming album The Future Comes Before. In anticipation, we have the first single, the awesomely cinematic “Part XIV,” with its visceral, dramatic sweep of strings, and featuring a powerfully moving vocal by British songstress Rae Morris.
“I imagined ‘Part XIV’ as a powerful pop duet between the London Symphony Orchestra and Rae,” he says, “and she has found some very mysterious colors in her voice.”
