It’s been five years since the release of Chris Garneau‘s last album, 2013’s Winter Games – so the announcement that his fourth full-length will at last be released before the end of the year was surely exciting news for his legion of devotees.
In the lead up, BlackBook premieres here the second single “Choices” (the first was “Torpedo,” featuring Light Asylum’s Shannon Funchess) – one of his most lush, romantic tracks to date, with its opulent 4AD / Slowdive atmospherics and an ethereal vocal performance.
“This song is really about finding your true self and becoming who you are,” he explains. “Doing that might mean that you are letting go of a part of yourself, and you can mourn that part while knowing that you are better off without it. Self-liberation can feel challenging because it can feel selfish, but it should!”
