Rolling Stone said that they sound, “like triumphant glitter cannons at the sunset slot of a summer festival.” And, really, that right there should be enough for you to want to make Tigertown your new favorite band.
But the buzzy Aussie indie-pop foursome have a pensive side, as well – especially evident in their hypnotic new video for “Warriors,” which BlackBook premieres here. It flits hauntingly between ruminative dreamlike sequences, with singer Charlie Collins passionately imploring, “I’ll do anything to feel / Just give me something / Because I love you when I’m dreaming.”
“We love that it’s focused on the deeper meaning of the song,” she explains. “We imagined fireworks and dancing when we wrote it, but there are also some darker emotions at the song’s core. We feel the video captures both sides beautifully.”
“We also got very good at jumping backwards onto safety mats,” she adds.
The song itself mixes Austra-like synth grooves with lush atmospherics, and a penchant for grandiose, shiver-inducing choruses – the latter recalling fellow Oceania dwellers The Naked and Famous.
