Alicia Silverstone Serves ’70s Single Motherhood in ‘American Woman’ Trailer

We all know Alicia Silverstone as the princess of Beverly Hills in her most iconic role as Cher in the 1995 teen classic Clueless. In her latest role, she returns to Beverly Hills once again…this time in 1975.

In American Woman, Silverstone plays a recently divorced Bonnie. As she learns to master single motherhood in the ’70s, she embraces her newfound independence during second-wave feminism. Luckily, she has the help of her gal pals, played by Jennifer Bartels and fellow ’90s teen movie star Mena Suvari.

Interestingly enough, the upcoming series is based on a true story. Even more interesting, it’s the story of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards’ upbringing. The latter also serves as co-executive producer.

American Woman premieres June 7 on Paramount Network. Watch the trailer, featuring a cover of “American Woman” by Kelly Clarkson, below.
