NBC Picks Up John Mulaney Sitcom

Saturday Night Live writer and standup comic John Mulaney has hit the jackpot: NBC has picked up his Lorne Michaels-produced sitcom, which he will write and star in, NYmag.com’s Vulture blog reports.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mulaney will be writing a "semiautobiographical comedy … based loosely on Mulaney’s life."

If you haven’t seen Mulaney’s Comedy Central standup specials, then you may have seen him do standup on Weekend Update, or recall his writing from Important Things With Demetri Martin. He’s probably most famous for creating the Stefon character with Bill Hader (who plays the giggly club promoter on SNL) … which now has me worried that if Mulaney leaves SNL for his own venture, Stefon will be gone. Nooooooooo!
