“I’m in chocolate heaven,” said Avneet.
Last Friday afternoon, BlackBook staffers Emily and Avneet decided to skip out on the office and head uptown to Bustan for a mid-day feast. If you’re going to go all out, this is a pretty good place to do it.
We started off with guava fruit juice, which had a slightly spiced flavour and a macchiato to keep us refreshed.
Garlic flatbread and black olives for the appetizer, yum.
Chicken and foie gras merguez shakshouka! A tongue twister that tasted unreal.
Jumbo lump crab benedict with potatos and spinach drizzled in truffle oil. Rich and tasty, just the way we like it.
Layered with chocolate and sprinkled with bananas, the Nutella flatbread was one for the sweet tooths.
To finish off, the challah bread French toast with syrup, crème fraîche, and blueberries, was a real treat.
Emily enjoying the French toast!
Bustan is located at 487 Amsterdam Avenue, New York.

GHE20G0TH1K kicked off with a boom on Saturday night at Santos Party House with a mad DJ line-up. Venus X banged out some tunes that had the crowd going wild, including a remix of Boss Ass Bitch x Drunk in Love. The fashion? A mix of baseball caps, HBA, and skin-tight leather, which left partygoers quite sweaty when dropping to the beats like no one’s business.
The Vogue Battle ensued with MTV America’s Best Dance Crew’s Dashaun Wesley judging the performers. Mike Q hit the decks as people gathered around the contestants in a circle as they began the dance off. As the dancers moved to the center, people cheered and iPhone flashed as people commemorated the moment in photo.
Waving his arms elegantly to the music and dipping low to the ground with style and ease, native New Yorker Alex Mugler was the star of the evening, winning the battle and taking home the $250 cash prize.
So, the baddest fashion b*tch on the planet has launched her own television documentary series. And it’s really good. You already know KC as the founder of People’s Revolution and the sharp-talking mentor of Whitney Port when she was on The City. But this time round, she’s got the limelight to herself (and rightly so).
Of the series so far, episode two is a big fave — KC’s close friend and designer Jeremy Scott makes an appearance and gives tips on getting a foot in the fashion industry. The key? Believe in your dreams, girlfriend.
Oh, and she also does nipple size testing on male models.
So, to celebrate the series, a few of our favorite Kelly-isms so far:
On a pair of killer heels from her personal collection: ‘’All guys want to do is lay down and jerk off to these studs and lingerie, that’s it.’’
On male body parts: ‘’I’m kind of obsessed with nipples.’’
On attending Tyra Banks’ fundraiser: ‘’I’ll be back this year with my rich friends and some rock stars.’’
We can’t wait for more outrageous moments next week.

The collection features an assortment of boxy, fluoro bags with crossbody straps that are aptly named, ‘Top Schooly’. With the acid popping colors and compact size, they are designed to keep a notebook and pen handy and of course, matching handbag lippy.
Below + above are my top five favourites.
Available at Bloomingdale’s online and in-store.

Yesterday, a life-size statue of late singer Amy Winehouse was unveiled in Camden, London. Erected in her neighborhood, on what would have been her 31st birthday, the bronze statue commemorates the brilliant performer who died of alcohol poisoning tragically at the age of 27. As a remembrance to Winehouse’s signature look, the monument features her signature beehive and red rose and star of David necklace.
Her parents were there for the ceremony, with her father Mitch Winehouse saying:
It’s a day of incredibly mixed emotions. They don’t put statues up for people who are with us anymore so it reinforces the fact that physically she’s gone but spiritually she’ll never leave us. I feel sad, very, very sad. We shouldn’t be here but we are, this is the reality and we’ve just got to make the most of it. So this statue is part of making the most of it. Getting people to come here, spend some time with Amy and put a flower in her hair and remember her in a very positive way. That for me is wonderful.
Sculptor and artist, Scott Eaton designed the figure after he met with Amy’s father. See more images HERE.
With all the divorce rumors surround our favorite power couple, we’ve all been questioning if Bey and Jay are still crazy in love. But of course, it appears that in fact they are—or they are posing to be–thanks to a slew of photos of the two enjoying their time by sea in Portofino, Italy for B’s 33rd birthday.
Holding hands as they walk down the luxurious Italian streets, Jay looked calm, cool, and happy to be with his birthday girl—methinks, a smiling Beyonce clad in a floral bikini and thigh-split sarong is likely to have helped. Haters to the left on this one, because from here, it looks like these two aren’t bowing down anytime soon.

To celebrate the launch of her new album True Romance, Gilt City paired up with Grammy Award winner Estelle last night at trendy workspace, Neuehouse. Estelle performed some tracks to delighted audience members including artist Maya Farrow and television’s Bevvy Smith.
The crowd watched her belt out her latest songs, ‘Conqueror’ and ‘Something Good’ and throwback tune, ‘American Boy’.
The R&B singer describes the link between her album and current state of being: ‘‘This is the first album I’ve written single. You know, not in some serious committed moment. It’s just a different perspective now.’’
The courage and true romance behind the aptly titled album are evident in her voice. Listen to ‘Conqueror’ below and you’ll see what we mean.

Having been out of the public dating game for a while, the world has obviously been anxiously awaiting Robert Pattinson’s return to romance. And now it appears, according to Us Weekly that the vamp heartthrob turned art house It boy has been enjoying himself with fellow Brit and rising star of the music world, Tahlia Barnett—AKA the brilliant FKA Twigs.
According to Us they were spotted at The Bowery Hotel last week and, “It’s early [on] but they’re having fun.” A musician himself, the two have “bonded over their love for music,” having met through mutual friends.
Here’s hoping for a duet in their future!
